10DANCE

CURRENTLY IN PRODUCTION(Scheduled to start streaming on NETFLIX in 2025)

Netflix is set to premiere 10DANCE, a live-action film that captures the intense world of competitive dance where pride, passion, and romance collide.
The manga “10DANCE,” serialized in Young Magazine by Kodansha, gained popularity as a pioneer in competitive dance comics. Celebrated for its unique storytelling, it won the “This BL is Amazing!” Award in 2019. Soon, Netflix will bring this dynamic tale to screens in 2025.
Ryoma Takeuchi and Keita Machida reunite in their first project together in nearly eight years. In his first foray into ballroom dancing, Takeuchi makes his Netflix debut portraying Shinya Suzuki, the Japanese champion of Latin Dance. Machida plays Shinya Sugiki, the Japanese champion and second-ranked dancer in the world in the Standard Ballroom category. The film passionately tells the story of these two Shinyas — living in entirely different worlds with opposing personalities — as they form an unlikely duo, aiming to win the 10-Dance Competition while clashing yet developing feelings for each other along the way.
“This film challenges us to explore the depths of love and its capacity,” Director Otomo shares. “When two people dance passionately together, they become so in sync that it feels as if they transform into something greater, transcending boundaries with hidden emotions and passions. With Ryoma Takeuchi and Keita Machida, we aim to deliver a glamorous and fresh dance film that captivates audiences.”
Inouesatoh, the manga’s author, reflects: “Initially, I felt anxious about the adaptation, fearing it would be impossible without a significant budget and talented team. However, knowing Netflix and Director Otomo are involved eased my worries. The casting of Mr. Takeuchi and Mr. Machida is perfect, capturing the essence of the characters. I am confident they will express the sensuality and joy beyond the manga, and I eagerly await the film's completion.”

STORY

Shinya Suzuki (Ryoma Takeuchi) is the Japanese champion of Latin Dance, while Shinya Sugiki (Keita Machida) is the Japanese champion and second-ranked dancer in Standard Ballroom in the world. They are often compared to each other because of their similar names despite dancing in different categories, which frustrates the competitive Suzuki. One day, Suzuki receives a surprise when Sugiki asks him to team up and win the 10-Dance Competition. The 10-Dance is a competition in which top dancers perform five varieties of Latin Dance and five varieties of Standard Ballroom. Knowing how difficult it would be, Suzuki initially rejects Sugiki's proposal to teach each other their respective styles and compete on the world stage, but Sugiki's provocative attitude sparks Suzuki's competitive spirit and spurs him to begrudgingly accept. The two men's opposite personalities clash as they devote themselves to daily lessons, but they grow steadily closer over time. Before long, Suzuki realizes he has started developing a romantic attraction to Sugiki.
