THE LEGEND & BUTTERFLY
2023.1.27 ROADSHOW
The 30-year journey of Oda Nobunaga, known to everyone, and his wife Nohime, known to no one, and the mystery of the Honnoji Incident.
A newly woven tale of turbulent events and the most moving conclusion in history, brought to life by Japan's finest cast and crew who have come together
as if guided by fate, challenging themselves with utmost dedication and portraying it on a scale that far surpasses conventional norms.
This pinnacle of emotion, which resonates deeply in our hearts especially in these turbulent times, will propel you and all of Japan towards a new era.
STORY
A political marriage brings together the flamboyant Oda Nobunaga (Takuya Kimura) and Nohime (Haruka Ayase), who secretly plots to assassinate him. Like oil and water, the incompatible couple causes a commotion on their very first wedding night.
One day, civil war breaks out in Nohime's homeland, resulting in her father Saitō Dōsan's death. Having lost her place to return, Nohime attempts suicide, feeling her existence has lost all meaning. It is none other than Nobunaga who gives her a reason and place to live.
When Nobunaga himself faces a crisis, besieged by a large army, he confides his fears only to Nohime. She encourages the despairing Nobunaga, spurring him on, and together they miraculously triumph in the fierce Battle of Okehazama.
This event strengthens their growing bond, and their shared dream becomes the unification of Japan, always striving "higher and higher."
However, as battle follows battle, Nobunaga transforms into a ruthless "Demon King." Nohime, knowing the real Nobunaga, desperately tries to hold him back, but fate mercilessly drives them towards the Incident at Honnōji.
What was the "true dream" of Nobunaga, feared as the <Demon King>, and Nohime, who sought freedom like a <Butterfly>, as they ran through 30 turbulent years together?
